New Orleans native Leon Howard, was imprisoned at the age of 16. While behind bars, he realized he had to change his life so he began studying the stock market on his own. He eventually taught himself so much, he became a successful investor, entrepreneur, and investing coach and also teaches one-on-one courses about investing. He created a movement he calls “From The Trap to Wall Street.”
Growing up, Howard witnessed his mother being shot when he was 9-years old and began frequently breaking the law. He was charged with attempted murder and armed robbery and was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment at just 16 years old.
In prison, Howard met a fellow prisoner who had been serving time for embezzlement. They began talking about how wealthy people earn their wealth. They discovered that a lot of people played the stock market so Howard began teaching himself all about it.
When he was released from prison, Howard got a job as an ironworker and began to put aside 70 percent of his salary for his investments. His investments eventually grew bigger and bigger and he began planning his future.
Today, he is a full time investor and entrepreneur and also teaches others how to achieve the financial freedom he attained.
His “From The Trap To Wall Street” program aims to show people that they can get away from “the trap,” which Howard defines as “a state or condition of a people being financially trapped, unable to find the path to financial freedom no matter how many jobs or side hustles worked.”
In order to help, he delivers talks and offers one-on-one courses for the that help people understand how to get started on Wall Street.
